EASA staff must have knowledge of a third EU language to be considered eligible for promotion. EASA wishes to set up a process whereby it can call upon the skills of a language assessor in order to assess the level of languages both in the context of the recruitment process, and in the context of the promotion policy for existing staff. The languages which should be tested the most are most likely to be French and German, at an approximate rate of 10 times for each language in the year 2006.
